Nominations and Elections

The Briar Bunch Nominating Committee met and is presenting the following slate of candidates to the members:

Elections will be held at the Briar Bunch annual meeting to be held on September 23 at 6:30 PM in Building A at LEH. Nominations will be taken from the floor.

An Afternoon at Chavez Ravine

On the afternoon of August 22, the Briar Bunch will be visiting Dodger Stadium to see the Boys in Blue take on the Cincinnati Reds. Game time is 1:10 PM. Tickets are $15 but members of the Briar Bunch in their first year of sobriety can get a ticket for $5. You can get tickets at the How Now meeting at LEH on Thursday nights or contact Hank T at 626/355-7642. Enjoy the fellowship even if you are not a Dodger fan.

Briar Bunch in Anaheim

On July 18, the Briar Bunch made its annual trip to Orange County to watch the LA Angels of Anaheim take on the Seattle Mariners. While the weather was stifling in Pasadena, those who journeyed down enjoyed a shady seat and a nice breeze which kept us comfortable for the afternoon. Unfortunately, the Angels were as cool as our seats, losing the game in extra innings. Regardless of the score, those of us in attendance enjoyed the company of our fellow members and their friends.

Briar Bunch Bingo Night

Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at 7:30 PM at San Marino Congregational Church (2560 Huntington Drive, San Marino).

Admission is 15.00 but Briar newcomers only pay 5.00. Refreshments will be served.

Giving Back

The Briar Bunch in an effort to help all newcomers who suffer from our disease of addiction has purchased 4 books and 2 workbooks for the Briar Unit Library. The books purchased were the Narcotics Anonymous Books (like the Big Book), How and Why (to help with the 12 Steps and Traditions) and the NA Workbook (which is an aid to doing the writing of the 12 Steps of both AA and NA).

In donating these books to the Library it will help all patients who enter the Chemical Dependency Unit. The books were received by Chemical Dependency Counselor Esby Garcia, who was most appreciative.
